If static electricity can build up on process equipment, the energy content of a “static discharge” can be the cause of fire and/or explosions in ATEX environments. Static grounding of objects and parts prevents the build-up of electrostatic charges, and thus also prevents the potential danger.
To ensure an optimal connection with the earth, robust material is used and the sharp contact points of the ATEX / FM approved earthing clamps will penetrate through coatings and contamination.

In order to be certain that applied earthing systems are capable of discharging static electricity to the earth, the resistance between object and earth can be continuously monitored with the aid of Bond-Rite® or Earth-Rite® ground control equipment.
